Plastic Wine Bottles
Let’s face it. It’s all about cost savings, not taste. If you expect your Australian Shiraz to come in a traditional glass bottle, enjoy it while you can. Fosters is shipping their Wolf Blass wines in recyclable plastic – now on sale in your local grocery store.
The new Wolf Blass ‘Green Lable’ wines will have a 12 month shelf life. That should tell you something about the wine right there.
The company will begin a three-month, $1 million, marketing campaign ‘educating’ consumers about the environmental benefits of wine in plastic. According to Fosters, the wines will produce 29% less greenhouse gas emissions than wine in traditional glass.
Fosters also says that laboratory trials and taste tests have shown no taste difference. Hmmm. We’ll see.
We can look forward to tasting the new green ‘Cabernet Shiraz’ and ‘Crisp Dry White.’ Can’t wait.
