baked-ham-mEaster Dinner
For many of us, Easter Sunday means serving a family feast with a traditional honey-glazed baked ham. When it comes to choosing a wine to serve with the meal, just remember that salt is the main factor to consider. A fruit-driven, not too dry, white wine will compliment most glazed hams. See February 14, 2009 entry Top 20 Wines Under $20 – Part 1. Pairing wine and food to a geographic region is usually a good bet. Our recommendation is a German style white such as Riesling or Guwertztraminer. The 2007 Chateau Ste. Michelle – Dr. Loosen “Eroica” Riesling or the 2007 Bergstrom Willamette Valley Riesling are both slightly sweet and balanced and will compliment almost any baked ham.

If you don’t have a good recipe for the ham, try this one we found in the Seattle Times: Baked Ham with Apricot-Pineapple Glaze.
